Finally, I got my camera back! This look was inspired by a pic I saw of Mary Kate Olsen awhile back. I must say, I really like this look quite a bit! I hope you do too! =)

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - "Home"

I've already applied:
MAC Painterly paint pot

Apply Coastal Scents CM03 hot pot into the crease with a fluffy brush.

Staying below the crease, apply Urban Decay Binge e/l all over and blend out with a finger or a brush.

Apply MAC Electric Eel e/s on top of where you applied the e/l. Also apply the the lower lash line.

On top of where you applied Electric Eel, apply MAC Deep Truth e/s all over and again on the lower lash line.

Apply MAC Elite (LE) e/s to the crease (any bronzey shimmery shadow will due).

Apply more Deep Truth, this time working it into the crease to blend the two colors together.

Apply MAC Gorgeous Gold e/s into the inner corner, working it inward to blend with the blue & upward to blend with the bronze.

Apply MAC Gesso e/s to the brow bone to soften the edges of the bronze & gold.

Eyeliner time: Urban Decay 24/7 in Zero to the upper & lower waterline. Loreal Carbon Black Lineur Intense to the upper lash line.

Mascara (Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume) & then you're done!

On the cheeks I used a couple colors from the Coastal Scents blush palette. On the lips is MAC Creme D'Nude l/s & Smashbox Zip l/g

So this will simply be a music post. I haven't had much input on the whole idea of integrating music into my blog, but I'm really enjoying it. I hope some readers are listening :)

I really don't know how to explain my love of music, but it's intense. Very few hours in my day are left without music and it's often that my mood is strongly affected by songs I listen to (in positive ways, that is). Anyway, enough rambling...

I have a pretty broad taste in music, what do you enjoy or listen to the most? Any specific bands/artists or more like a specific genre? Thanks in advance for sharing!

I got a few products from the newest MAC Collection - To The Beach. I usually skip on most collections but I absolutely loved the packaging on this one! The only products I got were Hipness blush, Float On By e/l and Temperature Rising l/l. Love! So this look is just what I came up with playing around with the products.

I actually really like Temp Rising even thought it is very bright! I imagine I'll be wearing it with some different lip combinations a lot this summer (with much more toned down eyes, of course :) Hope you enjoy!

I've already applied to my face: MakeUp Forever Concealer, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Light Medium, MAC Refined Golden Bronzer, MAC Hipness Blush.

Apply Float On By e/l to the lid.

Blend out with your finger or a fluffy brush.

Apply Urban Decay Homegrown e/s by patting it on top of the eyeliner and blend out the edges. Also apply to the lower lash line.

To the inner & outer corners only, apply MAC Humid e/s.

Using MAC Gesso e/s and a fluffy blending brush soften the edges quite a bit. Then apply a small amount of MAC Crystal Avalanche e/s to the center of the eye lid.

Apply Float On By e/l to the lower water line and set it with Homegrown e/s.

Smudge Urban Decay Zero liner on the lower lash line and upper waterline, up into the lashes.

MAC Blacktrack fluid line to the upper lash line and mascara.

For the lips I applied Temp Rising l/l followed by MAC Bombshell l/s and a little bit of MAC Pink Poodle l/g.

Makeup looks coming soooooon. These kinds of posts are mainly for my own sanity. hehe It's been quite busy as of late. Been trying to keep up with everyone though, hope you're all doing well!

SKINCARE

-How many times do you wash your face daily?

Twice

-What skin type do you have? (dry,oily,combo)

Combo, more on the oily side

-What is your current facial wash?

Proactiv

-Do you exfoliate?

Yes, my skin isn't too sensitive so I can use it a couple times a week.

-What brand do you use?

I'm loving Burt's Bees Deep Pore Scrub.

-What moisturizer do you use?

I use the Proctiv Lotion & I also love Benefit's Do It Daily

-Do you have freckles?

A few on my nose from sun burns : P

-Do you use eye cream?

Yes, Burt's Bees has a good one, but its pricey!

-Do you or did you have acne prone skin?

I wouldn't say acne, my skin breaks out very easily though.

-Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?

Have used it for over a year now. Works great for me.

MAKE-UP

-What foundation do you use?

MAC Studio Sculpt or Benefit Play Sticks

-How about concealer?

Benefit Boing or the Makeup Forever palette

-Do you know your undertone color?

I've found I'm kind of in between. I tend to have more of a yellow undertone though.

Love the look, but find them to be not so practical for me to wear as often as some people do.

-Did you know that you are suppose to change your mascara every 3 months?

Yes, but I don't follow it. I've never had any problems.

-What brand of mascara do you use?

1. I have a chicken pox scar right smack in the middle of my eye brows. (I'm sure you've noticed in pictures! haha)
2. I'm always singing. When I'm walking around work, around my house, in the car, you name it. To my best friend's torture, the song is usually "Tomorrow" from Annie. lol
3. When I was little I had a lazy eye, so when I would try to cross them one eye would go inwards & the other would stay center. hahah
4. I'm going to school for business. I'd love to be a business owner. My goal as of now is to go to beauty school after I get my bachelor's & maybe one day have my own salon.
5. My grandma's maiden name is McGuiver. I always thought that was so cool. lol I am French Canadian, Irish, Dutch (basically everything that doesn't get tan!) & probably a few other things we don't know about. My other g-ma was adopted.
6. I have this weird obsession with baking cupcakes. I haven't done it in awhile, but I get crazy into baking them & sometimes decorating them. haha I make them from scratch, too! : )

REVIEW CoverGirl Smoky Shadow Blast

I've had the pleasure of purchasing the new CoverGirl Smoky Shadow Blasts & wanted to share my thoughts in case anyone else was interested in checking them out, too. I only purchased three of the shades (Buy 2, Get One Free, thanks Ulta!) in Citrus Flair, Onyx Smoke & Silver Sky.

From CoverGirl.com:

The two different, specially contoured ends of our ShadowBlast stick make it easy to create a bold, colorful, smoky eye. A duo of expertly paired shades provide the bold, spotlight-ready looks loved by today's hottest makeup artists.

These are supposed to be easy ways to pull of a smokey look. And I really do see their intention. The different ends are nice, the product is creamy & easily blendable, & they are fairly cheap! But in reality, these are much too greasy to really be used alone. Creasing is definitely an issue here. I was a little more interested in using them as a colored eyeshadow base. With a base to prevent creasing underneath & a shadow over the top to set it, these really have the color pay-off to be darn good bases.

I'm definitely impressed with the color pay-off of these. I have been using them with the following products:

MAC Painterly Paint Pot
Eyeshadow of the top of the Smoky Shadow Blast to set it in place

If you don't have oily lids & don't already have to use an eyeshadow primer, you may be better off going with whatever eyeshadow base you prefer (MAC Paint Pots, Cream Color Bases, etc), but for the price of these I don't have a problem with it at all. I already have to use an eyeshadow primer anyway. But with that said, still better yet: NYX JUMBO EYE PENCILS. Hope you found this helpful. Thanks for reading!

So sorry for the lack of posts lately guys! But I just hit 50 followers & I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you. When I started this blog I really had a lot of fun with it but I never thought anyone would actually read it!

Here's my #4 Fit Lady pick, Miranda Kerr. I love this natural, rosy look. She's just so cute!!

This one is pretty simple. I used a mix of MAC Satin Taupe & Elite e/s on the lid & lower lash line. A touch of MAC Shimmertime pigment as highlight & on inner corner. A light pink blush from the Coastal Scents blush palette. Lastly, a soft wash of MAC Crosswires l/s & Smashbox Go l/g. Hope you like! : )

Healthy Living: Portion Control Follow Up

So a couple months ago I made a post about proper portion sizes. I wanted to do a quick follow up to let you know how it has been going for me.

I'm sad to admit that portion sizes was the only thing I was really able to focus on. I had wanted to get myself to the gym more often, but that just didn't happen. I'm so lazy... haha But even though exercise was not something I was able to jump right into, I found that controlling my portions was!

When I was writing that post, even I thought to myself: portion control... looks a lot easier than it probably is. I found it to be a lot easier than I thought and I'm really glad I actually gave it a shot. The biggest change in my eating habits was what I ate at work. I work at a restaurant and the food we serve there is FAR from healthy and FAR FAR from proper portion sizes. For example, we serve BBQ Chicken there which comes with TWO chicken breasts & TWO sides. That's just way too much food.

I also find that when I eat on my break at work, I don't want to only eat half of something like that and box it up. Frankly, I have no where to put it except my car. But I also had to pay for it, so I don't want to waste it! Hopefully you can understand my dilemma.

The first thing I tried was ordering off of the Kid's menu. Sounds a little extreme and my co-workers are constantly making fun of me, but I've learned that sadly enough, the portion sizes are perfect for adults! What I order most often is our Kid's Chicken & Rice. It's a 5oz. grilled chicken breast and the citrus rice we serve at my work that I love! At first, I got a little hungry before dinner time had arrived, but after only a few days my body was used to it and it fills me up. The hunger I felt at first wasn't even anything to complain about. I also found it much easier to get through the day since I wasn't so stuffed with (bad) food!

With just this one simple change, I've noticed myself making healthier choices at other restaurants and ordering smaller portion options. I can't say it's made a huge difference in my weight, since again I'm not really exercising, but I definitely noticed my belly flattening slightly & I felt bloated so much less often (which was becoming kind of a problem for me).

I apologize for being so wordy & rambly but I was excited to share with you how easy this turned out to be and encourage you all to watch your portions (if you don't already)! Let me know if you are currently trying to make some similar changes in your diets. I'd love to hear about it. : )

Top 5 Winter Beauty Products

I think it's pretty safe to say that we all hate that our skin get sooo dry during the winter. Following are a few of my favorite products that help me stay moisturized through the cold!

MAC Prep + Prime Skin

I prefer this primer a lot better over Smashbox Photo Finish during the winter.

Jergens Natural Glow Firming Moisturizer

I've used this product for a long time and recently came upon the firming one. Love this because it keep my tan going throughout the winter, and I actually notice the firming effect.

Smashbox Emulsion Lip Exfoliant

My lips get dry and cracked so easy when it's cold. As long as I use this stuff at least once a week I really don't have problems with dry lips. I find it works best when I use it in the shower.

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

I bite my nails (which I realize is a disgusting habit that I've been trying to break my whole life) and my cuticles really take a beating from it. Combine that with cold ass weather and I have myself some gnarly looking fingers! This stuff works great and smells good!

Olay Body Butter Ribbons with Joboba Butter

I've never been able to find a body wash that left my skin actually feeling moisturized after I got out of the shower. After I step out of the shower and dry off I feel like I've had lotion soaking into my skin for a few minutes. Not a greasy feeling, just moisturized. It's great!

I know none of these are new products, but are definitely my tried & true. Let me know if you've used any of these & what you thought!

My Halloween Look

Ok, so I know I posted that Mermaid Mask & said that was what I was going to be for halloween, but I just wasn't able to put together a costume for it! I changed my mind literally days before & threw things I already owned together & decided to be a lion tamer instead. It worked out perfectly because my boyfriend was Tigger & I got to tame him with my whip all night! : P hahah

Six Interesting Facts...

Long time no post! More looks & fun stuff coming soon, it was just a crazy weekend! Just because I really wanted to post something, I stole this from Clara . : ) I love learning new things about people so if any one else wants to post this please do!!

1. I have a chicken pox scar right smack in the middle of my eye brows. (I'm sure you've noticed in pictures! haha)
2. I'm always singing. When I'm walking around work, around my house, in the car, you name it. To my best friend's torture, the song is usually "Tomorrow" from Annie. lol
3. When I was little I had a lazy eye, so when I would try to cross them one eye would go inwards & the other would stay center. hahah
4. Once I finish with god awful community college, my goal is to transfer to Portland State. I'd love a change of environment.
5. My grandma's maiden name is McGuiver. I always thought that was so cool. lol I am French Canadian, Irish, Dutch (basically everything that doesn't get tan!) & probably a few other things we don't know about. My other g-ma was adopted.
6. I have this weird obsession with baking cupcakes. I haven't done it in awhile, but I get crazy into baking them & sometimes decorating them. haha I make them from scratch, too! : )

Healthy Living: Fun Exercise Idea #1

Dog Parks.

This is my dog, Sadie. She absolutely LOVES the dog park!

If you don't have a dog or don't know anyone that has a dog, this obviously won't work for you. Sorry.

But if you do have a dog, you might not realize the benefits of taking your pooch to a dog park (for both the dog & yourself!) or that there just might be one down the street from you!

Hopefully, as a dog owner, you are aware that exercise is just as important for your dog as it is for you. Some people find playing fetch in the backyard or taking a walk around the neighborhood sufficient enough exercise for their pup. However, socialization is also a very important part of having a happy, well-behaved dog. This is where the dog park comes in.

If you are not familiar with a dog park, it's exactly what it sounds like. They are gated & fenced off parks where you can take your dog off it's leash & let it roam free. Allowing your dog to socialize with other dogs helps them learn to deal with different situations & different people even. Plus, they have so much fun! Dog parks are certainly not for every dog, so for more tips on socialization check out this site.

What do you do while your dog has fun playing with it's new friends? Walk! One of the dog parks near my home actually gives you the distance around the park if you were to walk it. Taking it around 4 times is a mile! You can watch your dog play & meet new people all while you're getting some good exercise. Most parks have a lot of trees & are very pretty so it can sometimes be a nice little escape. Find a dog park near you here.

I personally LOVE taking Sadie to the dog park. She runs around like crazy & plays with all the small dogs. The best part - once I get her home she's completely pooped & will just sleep the rest of the day. haha

Healthy Living: Portion Sizes

As my best friend & I attempt to be healthier, the biggest thing we are trying to focus on is eating better. Now, doing this is not so hard if you have the motivation, but I've come to realize that there are a lot of factors working against us. The worst factor is what we've been trained to see as the right portion size.

What we are served at restaurants is no where near the right portion size. But that's what we are used to seeing & that's what we think is right. So along with eating healthier, I'm going to try my hardest to drastically adjust my portion sizes. According to this article , the following is what we should visualize to know what the right portion is:

Healthy Serving Size		Healthy Serving Size
3 ounces lean meat, chicken, or fish;	=	A deck of cards
1.5 ounces of cheese	=	4 playing dice
Baked potato	=	Your fist
1/2 cup of ice cream/frozen yogurt	=	1/2 tennis ball
1 pancake	=	A compact disc (CD)
1/2 of a 3-inch bagel	=	A can of tuna

A pancake the size of a CD??? I've never seen that at IHOP.

If you find yourself struggling to stay on a diet or control what you are eating (like me) try simply adjusting your portion sizes to start with. I'm a strong believer in the fact that you will be able to stick to a health/fitness plan if your ease yourself into it. Maybe some people can handle going full force into a strict diet & exercise routine, but my guess is not most people. The article also gives you a bonus to think about: "Opting for reasonable portions allows you to eat the foods you enjoy and still take off pounds." I could be wrong, but that seems like an easier start than heading right into a strict diet!

I totally get a kick out of the fact that 90s fashion is making a come back & today I saw the coolest random thing ever! It cracked me up so much I had to buy it!

I fully intend on actually using it for school, too. Because I'm not a college student or anything... LOL

The funniest part of this was that my bestie, Michelle, and I got the binder from this little pharmacy by our house & everything there was literally from 1991! Birthday cards, crayons, sunglasses, even some of the medicine looked a little sketchy. lol I go there sometimes because they have a post office in the back & I can't believe I never noticed all the random shit they had in there! baahahah I'm still giggling about it.

what else you need to know:

Contains raspberry extracts and light-reflecting pigments to instantly perk up tired eyes. Can be applied on bare skin or over makeup.

I happen to have a pretty puffy & dark under-eye area. But even so, I tend to stay away from de-puffing, brightening products because I've never had much luck with them at all. Usually the only affect I get from these types of products is a cool sensation. That's it.

Then I stumbled upon Benefit's Ooh La Lift & I have to admit it caught my eye. I absolutely love Benefit Cosmetics & for some reason I want to trust everything they want to sell me! : P So naturally, I give this product a try. The first picture is my eyes with no product on, other than moisturizer.

Gross.

The next picture is a couple minutes after applying Ooh La Lift. I don't know about you, but I am not seeing a dramatic difference here. BUT, there is still a difference & for me, that's huge! I can tell the area is slightly less puffy and it's definitely brighter (the brightness is much more noticeable in person).

Less Gross.

This one is after I have applied foundation, concealer & setting powder. Still looks pretty good to me!

So, even though there is not a dramatic difference, I was impressed to see any kind of difference at all. I've been using this product for a couple weeks now & I haven't noticed the results changing. This might be a product I decide to stick with!
